In today’s fast-paced world, fitting everything on our to-do-list into the day presents some difficulty. How are you spending your time today, this week, this month? An ancient Greek philosopher once said, “Time is the most valuable thing a man can spend.” In the midst of all we must get done, spending time with family is of utmost importance.
Knowing that time spent together strengthens families, the Partners in Education (PIE) organization work hard to provide family-centered activities for the students and families of VisionWay Christian School (VCS). On Friday, October 13, 2017, PIE hosted their annual Fall Festival for the multitude of students and family members in attendance.
The Fall Festival is a free event providing a family-friendly atmosphere where families gather and enjoy outdoor games and food. Hosted on the grounds of VCS and Taylorville Christian Church (TCC), the students ran off their energy enjoying bounce houses, basketball, laser tag, and free play on the playground equipment. Face painting and specialty balloons stations were available for those students taking a break from the vigorous activities. While children ran and played, parents and grandparents were able to sit and visit at the numerous tables provided.
PIE graciously provided hot dogs, chips, and drinks allowing all who attended to share a meal together. The annual chili cook-off, which accompanies the Fall Festival each year, allowed for chili tasting and desserts of all types were available for purchase. To preserve a memory of the fun evening, a beautiful fall backdrop was available for family pictures.
The support and turnout for the event was overwhelming and VCS families truly enjoyed the time spent together. The VCS administration and staff are grateful for the continued work PIE does for and in VisionWay Christian School. Fall Festival is just one example of the many ways parental involvement through PIE works to make VCS an excellent school. Thank you again, PIE, for reminding us of the importance of family time and providing a fun experience that makes our families stronger!
